1.Name of Research Group:Data mining and Information Retrieval Laboratory

   Description of Research Group:The Data Mining and Information Retrieval (DMIR) Laboratory was established in 2010. Leveraging platforms such as the Guangdong Provincial Center for Research and Development of Complex Process Cyber-Physical Fusion Systems Engineering Technology, the laboratory conducts research in data mining theory and applications, forming a platform for innovative research in data science. Focusing on the fundamentals of data mining, the laboratory conducts research in areas such as causal relationship discovery and causal machine learning, supporting critical societal needs such as understanding virtual social behavior, analyzing urban perception data, and mining biomedical data.
The laboratory boasts a well-structured and strong academic team, including two chief scientists of national key R&D projects, one National Outstanding Young Scientist, five professors (including two second-level professors), five associate professors, two lecturers, one senior laboratory technician, one laboratory technician, and one postdoctoral fellow. The laboratory currently has 11 doctoral students and 107 master's students. The team has undertaken one major project, "New Generation Artificial Intelligence," under the Science and Technology Innovation 2030 initiative, over 20 national foundation projects (including four key projects), and over ten provincial basic research projects, provincial major application projects, and international collaboration projects. They have published over 200 papers in international journals and conferences, including ICM L2 NeurIPS, AAAI, JCAI, TPAMI, TKDE, TNNLS, and Bioinformatics. These findings have been implemented in enterprises such as Huawei, NetEase, Tencent, Vipshop, China Southern Power Grid, and China Southern Communications Construction, achieving significant economic and social value.
