Dongliang Xiao, Ph.D., is an A-level "Young Hundred Talents Plan" faculty member at Guangdong University of Technology. His research focuses on new power systems and electricity market operations, energy economics and risk management, renewable energy integration, and smart grid technologies. Funded by the China Scholarship Council's "National Postgraduate Program for Building High-Level Universities," he earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), USA. His professional experience includes serving as a Research Assistant at UNL's Power and Energy Systems Laboratory, a Research Intern at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL), and an Associate Researcher at South China University of Technology's School of Electric Power Engineering.

Over the past five years, Dr. Xiao has published over 40 papers in prestigious power energy journals and international conferences, including two first-authored ESI highly cited papers, and holds five authorized/applied invention patents. He has led multiple research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Program, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation General Program, Guangdong Natural Science Foundation General Project, and Guangdong Province's 14th Five-Year Plan Philosophy and Social Sciences Youth Project. He has also directed two State Grid Corporation research initiatives and actively participated in over 10 major projects, including National Key R&D Programs, U.S. NSF-funded projects, and collaborative research with China Southern Power Grid, provincial power trading centers, and Guangzhou Futures Exchange.

Dr. Xiao holds editorial positions across prominent journals, serving as Associate Editor for the SCI Q1 journal Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems, Young Editorial Board Member for Energy Engineering and Sustainable and Renewable Energy, and Youth Assistant Editor for the EI-indexed Chinese core journal Power System Protection and Control. He has chaired multiple international conferences, including serving as Local Organizing Committee Chair for 2022 ICPES, Session Chair for 2022 ICREC and 2022 ICPEE, and Technical/Organizing Committee member for over 10 academic events.

His honors include the 2021 IEEE EIT Best Paper Award, 2022 CFEEE Outstanding Reviewer recognition, and 2023-2024 Distinguished Reviewer awards from Electric Power Construction. He received the 2024 Outstanding Paper Award from Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems and was named 2024 Outstanding Young Editorial Board Member by Power System Protection and Control. Dr. Xiao serves as a peer reviewer for over 40 SCI journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power SystemsApplied Energy, and Energy Economics.
